Bistro Cacao has a very pleasant French-style atmosphere that's very ornate and charming, unique to DC. The waitress was very friendly and the sandwich I had was amazing. I was delightfully surprised with their bread and butter. The butter was light and fresh and resembled something similar to whipped milk. I highly recommend this restaurant for a business lunch or date. Great experience.

After dining as a family on Mother's Day, I'm upgrading my review. The food was very good and the service was friendly. The prices are high, but it's a woman-owned business in the community worth supporting inside an 1885 rowhouse.

Food: Cheese plate was great. Fresh bread, 4 different cheeses, homemade preserves, and honey from the comb - fantastic. Seafood Stew was pretty amazing. Loaded with seafood. Full tail of lobster included. Steak Frites with Au Povire instead of the herb butter tasted great (I'm sure the herb butter is great as well), with really good fries. Services: very attentive, never had an empty glass of water, good timing. Ambiance: really nice, great date spot.

Came for brunch and was NOT disappointed. Their 3 course brunch menu for $35pp is an underrated DC restaurant deal. Apps: French onion soup - get this. It's a classic and they do it well. Very delicious. Smoked salmon app - this one was a bit disappointing, it was pretty small and the bread wasn't my favorite. Pastry basket - I wish this was a thing at all restaurants. it was $8 and so good. The jam tasted homemade. Loved this. Entrees: Veggie omelette - this was meh. I don't love omelettes in general but thought a french place was the place to try again. Didn't like it. If I go back for brunch, I'll get the smoked salmon benedict. Croque monsieur - my partner got this and loved it. Dessert: French toast - get this. It was definitely the best dessert. Creme brulee - this was the second best dessert. 3 mini brulees with different flavors. The coffee and chocolate flavors were so good. Crepes - really delicious but quite small. We didn't do drinks this time, but they also have a $25pp bottomless mimosa/bloody deal. Loved this place and would return!

This is a solid establishment for a weekend brunch. The location is very large but appeared to be in the quieter side, never the less it was a good brunch. The service was very good and it was actually the type of establishment that stood out from other locations in terms of service. The cuisine was French and the food was delicious. We had a bread basket, the prefix menu (one appetizer, one entree and one dessert) and bottomless. The damage came out to ~$70 but was worth it. Personally, I had the French onion soup which was amazing! Ask for extra bread because the broth is soooo tasty. The croquet monsieur was very good as well. I recommend this location for brunch and I would go again.

Walking from lung tour from US Capitol and discover that French heaven! Please don't get scared by expensive sign for this restaurant, the portions quite significant that you can share. They bring out fresh warm bread and butter right away, to kill your immediate hunger. We ordered hamburger, nicoise sandwich and salad. All were extremely fresh and flavorful! I order the flight if French wines/ Tour de France. They were tasty but a bit potent for my taste, that developed on California wines. Service was very extremely professional and attentive. Outside there are plenty of room, heaters included. But I recommend to seat inside and enjoy classy yet unique interior and design. Walls are cover with beautiful art and wall paper. For dessert we ordered apple tart, that is big enough to share with the family.

Always 5 of 5 stars! Bistro Cacao is always wonderful! I've enjoyed over 25 meals over the last few years. The outdoor patio is really pleasant, the indoor first floor area has a nice and historic DC feel, and the upstairs has the most beautiful, intimate, and romantic dining rooms. Bistro Cacao's cuisine is exquisite all the time, boasting my personal favorites being their Magret de Canard, Boeuf Bourguignon, Raviolis aux Champignons, Steak Frites, and their Saumon Grille. The appetizers of Moules Marinieries are the best mussels that I have had in the DC area! The desserts are always delightful! Oh, and the wine, how could I forget the fine selection of French wine? The varied selection is marvelous and the fantastic wine flights to pair with one's meal is truly excellent!
